SLWRP schools are eligible to participate in StopWaste's FREE field trip program to local transfer stations.
All field trips include a comprehensive walking tour of the Davis Street or Fremont Transfer Station and education on the 4Rs (reduce, reuse, recycle and rot/compost). Pre and post-field trip activities and resources will be provided to help support and extend classroom learning. Morning and afternoon options are available.
Chaperones and students should be prepared to wear hard hats, safety vests, and safety glasses as required by transfer station operators. Transfer stations are dirty places, students may wish to avoid wearing their best clothes. Students will need to wear closed-toe shoes and long pants to tour the facility.
