Students from Tennyson High School's environmentally themed "X-Academy" hosted their 2nd annual Earth Day Fair on Thursday, April 22, 2010. The fair featured a tour of the campus's 2 acre organic garden & new green house, healthy organic snacks, a "trashion show", silkscreening to refresh old t-shirts, reusable bag giveaways, recycle bin painting, and plenty of peer to peer lessons about living more sustainably.
Tennyson High School in Hayward plans to celebrate Earth Day 2010 with activities lead by X-Academy on Thursday, medicine April 22, clinic 2010 from 8:30-11:30. Activities will include silk screening old t-shirts to give them new life, organic food tasting, a "trashion show", a recycling bin painting booth and more!
Tennyson High School engaged students in a variety of media projects as part of the school’s campaign to reduce waste on campus.
A student produced video, How My School Garden Helps Me Grow won an honorable mention in a school garden video contest.
The school used an innovative approach to reflection in the school's media academy. Students learned blogging techniques while reflecting on what they learned about organizing recycling on campus.
